Manny Machado Says Padres are 'Hungry' After Disappointing 2023 Season
USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Padres are hungry for a better season in 2024.

Injuries prevented the 2023 team from reaching its full potential, and even when healthy, the team could never mesh. However, according to their superstar third baseman, Manny Machado, that's all in the past.

Machado and the Friars will look for drastic changes this season, and they're ready to show they mean business in 2024. In a recent appearance on MLB Network Radio, the star third baseman says the team wants to be a top-tier squad again.

"We want to get back to being that top-caliber team that will be able to compete at the highest level."

The Padres were among the most disappointing teams in the 2023 season. They finished with an 82-80 record that landed them third in the division and two games below the final Wild Card spot.

It was a big fall from grace as they were projected to potentially win the division and hopefully make a World Series run. However, with a week to go into the start of the 2024 season, those expectations have completely flipped. Don't tell Machado, though.

He is determined to take the Padres back to where they were in 2022 and possibly further. They have the opportunity to redeem themselves this season in a big way.
