Luis Castillo Continues To Own The Yankees

Prior to the trade deadline, many were speculating that Luis Castillo, the top starting pitcher out on the market, would ultimately be headed for the New York Yankees.

That did not come to fruition however, as the Seattle Mariners swooped in and picked him up, sending a haul of prospects back to the Cincinnati Reds.

Instead of dominating on the mound as a member of the Yankees, Castillo now has earned a reputation for dominating the Yankees.

He had another strong outing against them last night, throwing eight scoreless innings, striking out seven, and allowing just three hits.

Hector Gomez tweeted some of the stats from Castillo’s last three starts against the Yankees, and let’s just say that he has made a habit out of dominating the Bronx Bombers.

Castillo Dominates Yanks Again

Sometimes, a pitcher sees another team’s jersey and is able to lock in against them.

Such has been the case this year for Castillo when he’s facing the Yankees.

He had two great starts against them earlier this season, one of which was made while he was a member of the Reds, which many theorized could have been his “audition” for joining the Yankees later in the season.

But again, the Mariners are the team that ultimately acquired him, and he continues to completely and utterly dominate the Yankees.

When you can post a 1.66 ERA against a team in three starts, especially one like the Yankees, who have an explosive offense, then you’re doing something right and clearly have their number.

But good pitchers are able to compete against even the best in the business, and that is what Castillo has been able to do against the Yankees this season.
