Luis Campusano Returns to Friars Following Trip to Emergency Room
USA TODAY Sports

Padres catcher Luis Campusano suffered an unfortunate injury in Sunday's series finale against the San Francisco Giants.

Campusano took a foul ball to the groin region, and was forced to exit the game after being in an immense amount of pain.

Campusano was also forced to go to the emergency room to ensure that everything was okay, and fortunately after the initial scare, it was. Campusano spoke to reporters about the injury.

“It’s just part of it,” Campusano said. “I think it’s another reason why I like playing the position. Yeah, no one else is going to handle it. Like I said, it happens. But I’ll be ready.”

Campusano was able to pinch-hit in Monday's game, although he struck out in a big spot.

The lineup is not yet out for Tuesday's game, but it sounds like Campusano is ready to get back behind the plate after the injury scare.

Campusano has been really good for the Friars since returning from the IL in mid July.

On the year, he's slashing .302/.342/.491 with five home runs and 15 runs batted in. He's making a serious case to be catcher of the future in San Diego, so hopefully he can avoid injury scares like this one moving forward.
