Justin Turner hit a home run, but the Blue Jays fell 10-7 to the Tigers

So far in Grapefruit League action, Turner is slashing .256/.370/.513 and has driven in 11 runs, tied for the second most with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. I’m starting to really like this signing.

George Springer is having a terrific Spring Training. Going 3-3 on the day with a double now gives him a .472/.568/.806 slash line with a team-leading 1.374 OPS. he clearly hasn’t declined.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa is also having a great Spring Training, as he’s slashing .350/.458/.500 with a homer. He’s always been an average-over-power-hitter, so this isn’t all too surprising. He had a double and an RBI on Saturday.

Bo Bichette had two hits on Saturday, both singles, giving him a .358 slash line and an .861 OPS for the spring. Surprisingly, it hasn’t been the best spring for Bichette despite his high batting average, as he’s hit just one home run so far in Grapefruit League action.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s day at the plate on Saturday was a great one, as he finished the day with three hits in four at bats, while driving in a run. While it was just three singles, Guerrero Jr. is now slashing .459/.512/.730 for a 1.242 OPS. Is another 2021 season in order here?

Yusei Kikuchi didn’t have the greatest of starts, finishing with a line of 3.1 IP, 6 H, 8 ER, 3 BB, 2 K with three home runs given up to give him a 16.43 ERA in Spring Training. The Blue Jays already have a lot of concerns in their rotation, so let’s hope Kikuchi doesn’t resort to his 2022 form.

Nate Pearson pitched on Saturday, finishing with a line of 2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K to give him a 6.52 ERA. It’s becoming increasingly likely that Pearson will start the season in Triple-A as he has options remaining this season.

Zach Pop has had a sneakily good Spring Training, as he pitched to a line of 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K on Saturday to give him a 3.86 ERA for the spring. It’s also worth mentioning he has added a cutter in the off-season, a pitch he can throw to left-handed batters.

It won’t be long before the Blue Jays are back in action, as they’ll face off against the Baltimore Orioles at 6:05 PM ET on Saturday, yes, today. Yariel Rodríguez will be on the mound for the Jays.
