Jordan Montgomery Set for First Rehab Start with Triple-A Reno Aces
Rob Schumacher/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

Beginning the season in the minors, Jordan Montgomery is set to make his first rehab start on Sunday for the Triple-A Reno Aces.

According to Nick Piecoro at azcentral, Montgomery threw 50 pitches across three innings during a simulated game at Salt River Fields on Monday.

During his tenure with the Rangers last season, Montgomery concluded with a remarkable 2.79 ERA over 11 starts. Notably, he closed out the season with an impressive stretch, pitching 27 innings and allowing only two earned runs across four starts.

The Diamondbacks secured Montgomery with a 1-year, $25 million contract just prior to the onset of the 2024 season. Initially eyeing a long-term deal, the towering lefty was unable to secure one.

If all proceeds according to plan, Montgomery is expected to join the Diamondbacks during a mid-April road trip, which includes stops in San Francisco, St. Louis, and Seattle.
