Former Padres All-Star Wants to Help Turn Around Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox are undergoing changes at the executive level and a former Padres All-Star wants to fill an empty position.

Last week, the White Sox made headlines when they fired long time general manager, Rich Hahn, and vice president, Ken Williams.

Before they hired Chris Getz to take over as the new GM, former Padres closer Heath Bell took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his desire to be the next GM of the White Sox — or at least be in some leadership role.

Bell has been out of the game of baseball since 2014. Now, the Padres legend spends his time with the Hope for Leadership Foundation, which is a Christian group that promotes sports and civic programs to inner-city children.

However, it looks like Bell might have a desire to get back into baseball.

When he was with the Padres he was one of the most dominant pitchers in the game.

From 2009-2011 he made three consecutive All-Star Games. In five seasons with the Padres, he had a 2.53 ERA out of the bullpen and has the second most saves in team history with 134.

Even though his tweet seems sarcastic, Bell may be able to build a competent major league squad in the Windy City. At the very least, it expresses a desire to get back into the game of baseball.

He wasn't hired as the team's GM, but maybe they'll interview him for another opening.
