Former Detroit Tigers OF Signs Overseas Deal, Will Play in Korea
USA TODAY Sports

After spending parts of five seasons with the Detroit Tigers organization, outfielder Victor Reyes is moving onto South Korea. He'll play in the KBO with the Lotte Giants.

Per Jeeho Yo on social media:

#KBO signings : a lot to unpack, as 3 clubs announced foreign player signings & re-signings today.

SSG Landers bringing back LHP Roenis Elias ($1 mil), OF Guillermo Heredia ($1.5 mil)

Lotte Giants re-signing LHP Charlie Barnes ($1.35 mil), acquiring OF Victor Reyes ($950K)

Finally, Kiwoom Heroes signing LHP Enmanuel De Jesus ($800K). KBO teams can sign up to 3 foreign players, no more than 2 pitchers.

With very few exceptions, teams have always carried 2 pitchers and 1 position player. The max. salary for all first-year foreign players is $1 mil.

The 29-year-old debuted in the 2018 season and spent time in the big leagues each year until 2023, when he was in the minors all year.

He played a career-high 100 games in 2018 and also played 92 in 2022. He's a career .264 hitter with a .294 on-base percentage. He's hit 16 homers in the big leagues while also stealing 33 stolen bases. He hit .304 in limited action back in 2019.

Given his age and relative prior success, he could find himself back in the states in 2025 if he has a good 2024.

Just recently, we've seen pitchers Chris Flexen and Erik Fedde come back from the KBO to play again in the majors. Perhaps Reyes can do it from the position player side.
