Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo will undergo surgery on Monday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Perdomo was placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday's game against the host Atlanta Braves.

"It's definitely a blow to this team but we've got to find a way to overcome it," Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said.

Perdomo, 24, is batting .250 (6-for-24) with two RBIs in seven games this season.

An All-Star last season, Perdomo is batting .222 with 11 homers and 90 RBIs in 310 career games with Arizona.

Also on Sunday, the Diamondbacks recalled infielder Kevin Newman from Triple-A Reno and designated right-hander Corbin Martin for assignment. Newman started at second base in Sunday's series finale, while rookie Blaze Alexander started at shortstop on Sunday in place of Perdomo.

Martin, 28, has made two appearances for Triple-A Reno this season, permitting three runs in three innings.
