The Detroit Tigers are coming off a rough 10-5 loss to the New York Mets yesterday. Today they will take on the Philadelphia Phillies with their Opening Day starting pitcher Tarik Skubal on the mound making his fourth start, he is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in nine innings. The Tigers today solidified their starting rotation for the start of 2024 which will include Skubal, Kenta Maeda, Jack Flaherty, Casey Mize, and Reese Olson as they have made the following roster moves which brings their roster to 29.
Manning this spring made five starts going 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts in 16 innings. Last season, he made 15 starts going 5-4 with a 3.58 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 78 innings.
Anderson this spring made six appearances going 1-1 with a 7.88 ERA, a 1.75 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in eight innings. Last season, he pitched in Japan appearing in 29 games going 5-3 with a 1.88 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 66 strikeouts in 67 innings.
Mize this spring made five appearances with four coming as starts going 3-1 with a 2.35 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 15.1 innings. He last pitched in 2022 before dealing with multiple injuries and in 2022 he made two starts going 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and four strikeouts in ten innings.
Olson this spring made five appearances with four coming as starts going 0-2 with a 3.68 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 14.2 innings. Last season he made 21 appearances with 18 coming as starts going 5-7 with a 3.99 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, and 103 strikeouts in 103.2 innings.
