Chicago Cubs rookie starting pitcher Jordan Wicks is off to a tremendous start to his MLB career.  The 24 year old southpaw has been good during his first three career outings that came against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants.  During this stretch he also has became the first Cubs pitcher since 1901 to earn a win in each of his first three career starts.

Jordan Wicks is the first Chicago Cubs pitcher since 1901 to earn a win in each of his first three career starts (MLB News).

During his MLB debut Jordan Wicks covered five innings and struck out nine Pittsburgh Pirates.  A turn later, against the division rival and playoff contending Cincinnati Reds, he went another five innings and gave up just one run.  Lastly against the San Francisco Giants he went 6.2 innings pitched and gave up two runs.  In each of these games he was the winning pitcher.

There is a lot to like with some up and coming pitchers in the Cubs organization.  Javier Assad has been a major contributor in the starting rotation and over his last five outings he has posted a 1.62 ERA and 0.93 WHIP.  Additionally 6’8″ southpaw Luke Little recently joined their bullpen.  All of these pitchers should continue to factor into Chicago’s push for a post season berth.
