Colton Cowser’s Stellar 2024 Spring Training Performance
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

In the baseball world, finding a standout player like Colton Cowser is quite the catch for the Baltimore Orioles and his 2024 spring training performance has impressed everyone. As an outfielder, he hit an eye-catching .304, smashed six home runs, and brought in 13 runs during his first 18 games of spring 2023.

Earning His Spot

Spring training is where young players show they’ve got what it takes, and Cowser did just that. He stood out among many talented outfielders and earned his place as the fourth outfield option, right behind the team’s top players, Austin Hays, Cedric Mullins, and Anthony Santander. That’s a big win for someone as new as he is.

Colton Cowser’s 2024 Spring Training Performance

Colton Cowser, Jackson Holliday, Heston Kjerstad, and Coby Mayo have all had 15-20 at-bats in 2024 spring training. All of them, except for Kjerstad, have been performing well, but Cowser’s standout stats include a .400 batting average, .550 on-base percentage, and 1.000 slugging percentage, with three home runs and seven RBI.

Cowser had a challenging start in the majors in 2023, playing in 26 games with a low batting average of .115/.286/.148. The Orioles have a crowded infield, with Cowser potentially competing with Nevin, Mountcastle, and Urías for playing time at first and third base.

Despite this, Cowser’s performance is catching the attention of the team, and he may be given another opportunity to prove himself in the upcoming season.

More Than Just a Backup

Even though Cowser isn’t starting every game in 2024, he’s someone to watch. His impressive skills and dedication mean he could soon play more often, especially as he’s showing signs of being a great right fielder.

From College Star to Pro Player

Cowser shone brightly from his first days at Sam Houston State University, batting .361 in his freshman year. That early promise has followed him into his professional career.

Rising Through the Ranks

Transitioning from college to pro baseball can be tough, but Cowser took it in stride. After a bit of a rocky start at High-A Aberdeen, he quickly found his groove and excelled at Double-A Bowie, proving he’s got what it takes to succeed.

A Future Full of Promise

Cowser is more than just a player for the Orioles; he’s a glimpse of what the future could hold. As he grows and adapts to the challenges of the major leagues, both fans and experts are eager to see how far he can go. With his talent and early successes, Colton Cowser is definitely a player to watch in the seasons ahead.
