Frazier: My nose piercing 'frowned upon' by Yanks
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Outfielder Clint Frazier is back with the New York Yankees, but he thinks his unique brand of flair may have rubbed the organization the wrong way.

Frazier has spent the bulk of the season exiled to Triple-A despite hitting 11 home runs in 54 games. There are a number of potential reasons for why the Yankees aren’t enamored with him, but he seemingly suggested that his nose piercing is one.

“I think it’s just frowned upon,” Frazier told Hannah Keyser of Yahoo Sports. “I’m contemplating getting this one pierced, too. Like Lenny Kravitz, so having a hoop over here.”

The Yankees are known for their strict grooming policy, which prohibits long hair and certain types of facial hair. Frazier had to cut his hair when the Yankees acquired him from the Cleveland Indians.

There’s no suggestion that this is the only reason, or even the primary one, that Frazier has been frozen out for the majority of the year. It is reflective of a personality that the organization might find a bit over-the-top sometimes, combined with some on-field issues and his reaction to them. Ultimately, the way he goes about his business simply may not be ideal from the Yankees’ point of view.
