Cincinnati Reds Roster Moves 3/31
David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Reds are 1-1 on the year as they prepare to play the third game, of the series against the Washington Nationals this afternoon. The team dominated game one of the series winning the game 8-2. Game two was a little bit of a disappointment as the Reds entered the ninth inning with a two-run lead and their closer Alexis Diaz on the mound. Unfortunately, Diaz couldn’t hold the lead and Eddie Rosario’s saf fly capped off the three-run comeback by the Nationals in the ninth inning. Today the Reds announced a roster move before the series finale with the Nationals.

LHP – Nick Lodolo

Today it has been announced that the Cincinnati Reds sent Lodolo down to the Louisville Bats for a rehab assignment. Lodolo is recovering from the leg injury that caused him to miss the majority of last season. This spring he made two starts for the Reds he went 1-0 over 4.2 innings worked with a 1.93 ERA. He gave up two hits, two walks, one run and struck out five batters this spring. Last season for the Reds Lodolo started seven games for the Reds before suffering his leg injury that shut his season down. Last year he had a record of 2-1 over the seven starts. His ERA was high last year during those few starts as it was 6.93 ERA over 34.1 innings. Lodolo struggled early for the Reds, he gave up 50 hits, 24 runs, 10 walks, a WHIP of 1.75, and struck out 50 batters. If Lodolo can bounce back and continue to pitch as he has been for the Reds this spring the team will be happy to have him back in the Rotation. The first step to succeed, down at Triple-A with the rehab starts with the Louisville Bats then hopefully back up with the big club at Great American Ballpark soon.
