Cardinals hang 18 on Brewers thanks to massive 10-run inning

The St. Louis Cardinals are on a hot streak, and they capitalized on their great play as of late by hanging a more than crooked number on the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cardinals beat the Brewers, 18-1.

If game one of this series is any indication, the Brewers are in trouble and fans in St. Louis are in for one heck of a homestand.

The scoring started for St. Louis with another Nolan Arenado home run. He's now homered in four-straight contests.

Speaking of home runs, the bottom of the eighth inning was massive for the Cards.

Andrew Knizner hit a grand slam in an inning that saw St. Louis put up 10 runs. That inning started with a Tommy Edman home run. It ended with the Knizner grand slam (off a position player) with a home run from Nolan Gorman sandwiched in between.

Gorman was 3-for-5 with the home run, two runs scored, and five RBI. Edman notched four hits in five plate appearances and finished the game with four runs and two RBI.

The Cardinals went into the bottom of the eight already up, 8-1. The left the half inning with an 18-1 lead and pitcher James Naile locked the door — which was already slammed shut — with a one-two-three ninth inning.

St. Louis has now won four in a row and seven of its last eight. With that said, the Cards still find themselves in last place in the NL Central after an abysmal start to the season.
