Brewers beat Orioles on Joey Wiemer's walk-off hit
Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Rookie Joey Wiemer delivered a walk-off single with two outs in the 10th inning to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-3 victory over the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night in the opener of the three-game series.

Luis Urias drew a one-out walk in the 10th off Austin Voth (1-2). After Brice Turang struck out, Wiemer lined a 1-2 pitch to left to score Andruw Monasterio, who was placed on second to start the inning.

Peter Strzelecki (3-4) pitched a scoreless 10th for the victory as Milwaukee improved to 4-0 in extra-inning games.

Milwaukee tied it 3-3 with a run in the eighth off Yennier Cano. Blake Perkins walked to open the inning, stole second, and scored on Turang's one-out single to center.

Ryan O'Hearn put the Orioles in front 3-2 in the seventh with his third homer, a one-out solo shot to left off Joel Payamps.

Milwaukee scored two in the first, but left the bases loaded. The Brewers stranded 13 runners, including in scoring position in the first, second, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth.

The Brewers improved to 29-4 when scoring four or more runs. They are 4-24 when scoring three or fewer.

Rejuvenated Aaron Hicks, signed by the Orioles on May 30 after being released by the Yankees, erased a 2-0 deficit with a two-run homer in the second. Austin Hays doubled to open and Hicks sent a 2-2 pitch 372 feet to right for his second home run.

Milwaukee opened the scoring as Christian Yelich doubled and William Contreras walked in the first. Brian Anderson and Abraham Toro delivered two-out RBI singles. Luis Urias was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but Baltimore starter Kyle Gibson avoided further damage by striking out Turang.

Hicks was robbed of another extra-base hit with two aboard in the third when his two-out drive to the gap in right-center was hauled in by Wiemer on the warning track after a long run from center.
