Braves make several roster moves ahead of Marlins series

Soroka has owned the Marlins over his career to the tune of a 1.07 ERA in five starts. However, this is a much different Miami team than he’s faced in the past. They are one of the hottest clubs in baseball, sitting 14 games over .500 and six games behind the Braves in the NL East. It’s a pivotal series this weekend, as the Braves have a chance to take complete control of the division, and it all starts with Soroka making his highly anticipated debut at Truist Park.

The Braves also announced that they have added Charlie Culberson to the active roster. He will take Chadwick Tromp‘s place, and to make room for Culberson on the 40-man roster, the Braves placed Dylan Lee on the 60-day IL.

For what it’s worth, this is not a setback for Lee. He’s still expected to return after the All-Star break. There is no reason for the Braves to rush him back, especially with the way the bullpen has performed of late. This also gives Alex Anthopoulos some time to evaluate who he wants to keep when Lee and Chavez eventually receive a clean bill of health.
