Astros Reportedly In No Rush to Find New Manager

The Houston Astros are in need of a new manager after Dusty Baker announced his retirement following their loss to the Texas Rangers in the American League Championship Series. 

The legendary manager was able to help bring the Astros their second World Series title in 2022 by knocking off the Philadelphia Phillies and led the team to their seventh-consecutive ALCS.

Now, a new face will lead the franchise, one that has become a dynasty and is showing little signs of slowing down.

However, Houston general manager Dana Brown told the media on Wednesday that the team is no rush to find a new manager and interviews have yet to begin. 

"I don't really have a timeframe right now ... I'm looking for someone with some leadership ability, someone that can run the clubhouse, someone with great feel for players and managing players. There's a lot I'm looking for," Dana said according to The Athletic.

It is worth keeping in mind that the World Series hasn't even concluded yet and there could be some names on either the Texas Rangers or Arizona Diamondbacks' coaching staffs the team may want to take a look at.

However, Houston fans may remember how the search for a new general manager last season was prolonged to such an extent that owner Jim Crane was making baseball operations decisions such as who to sign in free agency.

That is likely something the Astros will want to avoid this season in terms of hiring a new manager. But one thing is for certain - there will be no shortage of qualified coaches available and waiting for the call.
