Astros rally twice in Game 4 to sweep Yankees, advance to World Series

The Houston Astros are headed back to the World Series.

On Sunday night, the Astros repeated as American League Champions, coming from behind twice to defeat the New York Yankees in Game 4, 6-5, and complete an ALCS sweep.

In the top of the seventh inning, with the Astros trailing 5-4, Houston rallied for two runs in the inning, punching their ticket to the World Series.

With two men on and one out, Yordan Alvarez singled home Jose Altuve to tie the game 5-5. Then, third baseman Alex Bregman stepped to the plate, lining the go-ahead single into right field.

Houston's seventh-inning rally was their second comeback of the game. New York jumped ahead 3-0 early after scoring two runs in the first inning and another in the third. However, the Astros responded immediately, posting a four-spot in the top of the third inning, highlighted by a three-run home run by Jeremy Pena.

After taking the lead in the seventh, thanks to Bregman's big RBI, Houston's bullpen took care of the rest.

Bryan Abreu and Rafael Montero pitched scoreless innings in the seventh and eighth innings before giving way to closer Ryan Pressly. Like Abreu and Montero, Pressly sat down the Yankees one-two-three in the ninth, getting Yankees' slugger Aaron Judge to ground out to end the game.

The Astros will make their fourth appearance in the World Series since 2016.

Houston will match up with the surprising Philadelphia Phillies, who advanced past the San Diego Padres earlier in the day to clinch the National League pennant.

Game 1 of the World Series will take place on Friday in Houston, time still to be announced.
