Astros Move Infielder to Injured List

The Houston Astros put shortstop Grae Kessinger on the injured list on Saturday due to “healthy and safety protocols” and called up outfielder Corey Julks from Triple-A Sugar Land, per multiple reports.

The Astros were preparing to play the Seattle Mariners in the second game of a three-game series on Saturday.

Kessinger, a rookie, is slashing .194/.293/.333/.626 in 19 games with one home run and one RBI. He has started at least one game at every infield position. He was initially called up by the Astros on June 5.

Julks is also in his rookie season with the Astros and he’s slashed .245/.299/.353/.652 with six home runs and 32 RBI in 86 games this season. The Astros selected his contract on March 30 in advance of Opening Day and remained with the team until he was optioned to Sugar Land on Aug. 7.

Julks was not in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game.
