AL East Squad Hires Former Angels Pitcher As Pitching Coach

Bailey pitched for the Angels from 2016 to 2017 as a reliever.

During his time in Anaheim, he pitched in just 16 games and had a 2-0 record.

In 2016, Bailey pitched in 12 games for the Angels and held a 2.38 ERA with eight strikeouts and six saves.

Before pitching for the Angels, Bailey was a former Red Sox pitcher in 2012 and 2013.

Last year, the Red Sox pitching staff was among the top 10 worst in all of baseball as they collected a team ERA of 4.52 while giving up 776 runs, 208 home runs and 29 blown saves.

In his coaching career, Bailey spent one year coaching for the Angels in 2019 and spent the last three years as the San Francisco Giants' pitching coach.

Last season, the Giants put together a top-10 pitching staff as they held a team ERA of 4.02 and gave up just 173 home runs, the least in the MLB. The Red Sox will be hoping to get some of that magic from Bailey in the 2024 season.
