While Scottie Scheffler has been the talk of professional golf lately, another star is quickly entering the limelight. Nelly Korda has been absolutely lighting up the LPGA Tour for the past three and a half months with a historic run.

Korda, 25, has been a fixture on the Tour since 2017 and has already amassed an impressive 13 victories in her young career. But her most recent play has gained the attention of even casual viewers. On Sunday, Korda won the Chevron Championship the first major of the LPGA's season.

Put Her Down for 5

Yes, five.

Sunday marked Korda's fifth consecutive victory on tour dating back to January. It's not just impressive, it's historic, as she tied the LPGA record. Korda joins Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam as the only players to do so, which is elite company.

The victory at Chevron is Korda's second major title, as she also won the 2021 Women's PGA Championship. With her victory, she collected the major's $1.2 million purse.

The timing of Korda's historic run couldn't have been better, in my opinion. Women's sports have garnered increased attention over the past few months, largely due to basketball star Caitlin Clark's March Madness run and WNBA Draft selection. Now, Korda is capitalizing on the opportunity.

This is a huge win for the LPGA and the PGA as well. Golf's viewership has been lacking, and a performance like Korda's will draw people in. Now let's see if Korda can extend her winning streak going forward.
