Reality TV shows set in the most random locations

This show brought reality TV lovers much joy, not just because of the familial ties throughout the cast but also because of over-the-top reenactments that put this show on the map. Who would've thought a reality show about a pawn shop would be so entertaining? 

Although celebrities on Special Forces set out to live and train like special forces operatives for a brief period, believing their living quarters were actually in the middle of a famous desert in Jordan is a little challenging for us. 

Did you know anything about Potomac, Maryland, before watching The Real Housewives of Potomac on Bravo? Us neither. 

Not only are these contestants surviving with little to no food or water, but they’re doing it while overseas in places like The Marquesas Islands. 

Even though this show featuring reality stars like Porsha Williams and NFL legends Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman was beyond entertaining, its set being a space simulator threw us for quite the loop. 

It’s not just the fact that these contestants are filmed while completely naked that makes it random; it’s the fact the subjects are tasked with surviving in places like Colorado, Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee. What’s the fun in that?

Can you imagine the hip-hop rapper Vanilla Ice in Amish Country with no electricity, fancy cars, or music? Neither can we. 

This Texas-based reality show aired on TLC and was filmed in the middle of a funeral home. It’s almost as random and spooky as Discovery’s Naked series.   

This reality show aired on The CW for one season in 2013. It took a group of 24 contestants and placed them in a 4,000-acre field called the “Arena.” They are tasked with eliminating the others until they are the last team standing. To make it even more interesting, they’re given little food and water and are forced to use their survival skills to make it. If it sounds like a real-life Squid Games, that’s because it is. 

Again, it’s just odd. We’re watching two strangers go on their first date naked while on an island in Panama. Where’s the connection here? 

Although the Sydney iteration of MTV’s hit show The Real World featured a lot of drama among the cast, we’re curious how they landed on Australia as the season’s go-to destination. If you ask us, it’s a bit random but still a binge-worthy watch.

It’s another cringeworthy dating show that stars a group of literal “F Boys” competing for the attention of three women among a group of nice guys. The worst part is that they’re filming in the Cayman Islands and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico — beautiful locations that should be reserved for glamorous Real Housewives trips and Kardashian family vacations. 

Like Potomac, Maryland, Huntsville, Alabama, wasn’t on reality TV watcher’s must-visit list until this show hit the waves on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Since its premiere, it’s become the network’s most-watched unscripted series, resulting in spin-offs in DC and Detroit. 

Since being fired from The Real Housewives of New York, Bravo had to find a way to keep some of their favorite reality stars working. That's why these ladies set out to small-town Benton, Illinois, to help the city’s mayor get a few things in order. 

This show follows a group of highly conservative family members on an isolated farm in a Georgia town striving to live together amid the many challenges of the outside world. 

Little People Big World is one of TLC’s mainstay shows, airing 24 seasons and counting over 17 years. It follows a family of six who tackle topics like dwarfism and other important topics, all while on their family farm in an Oregon town. 

Everybody who keeps up with reality television knows the MTV classic, The Challenge. However, networks have taken quite the risk over the years by creating The Challenge: World Championship and their other international iterations. Seasons like Australia, Argentina, and the UK weren’t needed, leaving a stain on quite an iconic franchise. 

This Bravo original failed miserably. It takes place in beautiful Paris, France; however, this series does this popular city no favor.
