Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football program will have one of their top 2025 recruiting targets on campus for junior day in February.

Four-star pass rusher Austin Alexander out of Burlington, Kentucky, who sits atop the Wisconsin Badgers wishlist on the EDGE, will visit Madison.

According to the composite rankings, Alexander is considered the No. 254 player in his recruiting class, the No. 26 defensive end in the country, and the No. 2 player in Kentucky. Outside linebackers coach Matt Mitchell has been the leader recruiter throughout this process.

“The staff is very well put together,” Alexander told Badgernotes. “Coach Scruggs is a man of faith, and that speaks to me because my faith is very important to me. Also, Max [Stienecker] is an unbelievable recruiter, and I’m very interested to see how this junior day goes with him.”

During his junior season at Cooper High School, Alexander caught 67 passes for 1,138 yards with 19 touchdowns on offense while registering 81 tackles, 19 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and an interception on defense.

Wisconsin Football Hosting Top Pass-Rushing Target Austin Alexander on Visit

By all accounts, Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin football coaching staff are looking to take two outside linebackers in the 2025 recruiting class. Brenden Anes taking one of those spots leaves the door open for the team to take a couple of big swings, and Austin Alexander fits that bill.

He is the nephew of Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander and holds an impressive offer list consisting of North Carolina, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Duke, Notre Dame, Stanford, and Tennessee, among others.

Rebuilding the Wisconsin Badgers linebacking corps has been a point of contention this offseason. They added Leon Lowery and John Pius to the position group that also returns Darryl Peterson and Jeff Pietrowski, all veteran players expected to be in the two-deep.

Now, they’ll need a few young players to develop for the future at the position alongside Thomas Heiberger and Anelu Lafaele.

A source shared with Badgernotes.com that Alexander is the Wisconsin football program’s top remaining edge rushing target on the recruiting trail and intends to put on the full-court press between now and summer.
