Watch: USC players fire indirect shots at Caleb Williams by shouting 'We a team now!' after upsetting Louisville under Miller Moss’ leadership

On Thursday, the USC Trojans went against the No.16 Louisville Cardinals in an exciting Holiday Bowl game. USC’s star quarterback Caleb Williams opted to not play in the game and cheered his team from the sidelines. Even without Williams, the Trojans managed to cause an upset as they defeated the Cardinals in a dominating fashion.

Furthermore, following the game, the USC players seemingly fired a shot at their former Heisman Award-winning quarterback Caleb Williams, who did not play in the game.

We a team now! We a team now Trojans were heard shouting

A brief video of the Trojans wide receiver Raleek Brown shouting that they are a team now went viral on social media and accumulated more than 941k views within days. Check out the footage of the incident attached below.

After the video went viral, many assumed that the USC players were targeting their former quarterback Williams, who was cheering them from the bench. In Williams’ absence, redshirt sophomore Miller Moss had a historic game as he threw for 372 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The USC Trojans did not have a good campaign in 2023. Following a good start, the Trojans finished their season with a record of 8 wins and 5 losses. Williams — who started the year as a Heisman Trophy favorite ended up having a poor campaign. And now, USC players using the phrase led to fans questioning their motives behind it.

USC QB Miller Moss emphasised coming together as team

Following the game, USC Trojans quarterback Miller Moss addressed the media and reflected on his historic night. He emphasized their goal to come together as a team without any individual ego.

I don't think it's as much about me as it is about the team. The emphasis is really to come together as a team. No ego, no individual. It's all about us as a team bonding together, and that's what we are to focus on moving forward. Moss told the reporters

He also talked about how his coach Lincoln Riley was very candid with him, while Moss was sitting behind Caleb Williams and waiting for his shot as the starting QB.

Nonetheless, Williams is expected to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft following a successful college career. After he departs, Moss — who showed great potential on Thursday — is expected to take over USC’s starting QB role.
