Utah Pursuing One Of Transfer Portal's Top WRs Deion Burks
USA TODAY Sports

As Kyle Whittingham hinted at, the Utah Utes are looking to be major buyers in the transfer portal this year.

On top of hosting one of the top tight ends in Arizona State Jalin Conyers for a visit, the Utes have also been sending out offers to wide receivers to give quarterback Cam Rising some weapons for 2024. One of the players that they have reportedly offered and are pursuing is Purdue transfer Deion Burks. The third-year pass catcher had a career year and while he is eligible for the NFL Draft and would likely get drafted in the earlier rounds, he is taking a look at his options.

According to On3, Utah is among the many programs vying for his services joining notable schools such as Texas, Auburn, Oregon, and USC among others.

In 2023 he racked up 47 catches for 629 yards, while adding seven touchdowns. He is a speedy 5-foot-11 pass catcher who is extremely elusive and a defender's nightmare in open space.

He ranks as the No. 3 wide receiver in the portal, and would provide a huge jolt for the Utes' offense which was somewhat anemic this year without Rising.
