Ohio State to honor Dwayne Haskins at spring game

The Ohio State Buckeyes plan to honor late quarterback Dwayne Haskins this weekend at their spring game, ESPN reported Monday morning.

Haskins, a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, died Saturday after being hit by a dump truck while walking down a highway in South Florida, where he has been training in the NFL offseason. He was 24 years old.

"Buckeye nation meant a lot to Dwayne," Buckeyes coach Ryan Day said in a press conference on Monday. "Having everybody there on Saturday is significant. And we'll make sure we do things the right way and then moving forward, we just want to make sure we do it the right way and think it through."

Haskins set Big 10 records in passing yards (4,831), touchdown passes (50), and total offensive yards (4,939) in his final season at Ohio State, becoming a Heisman Trophy finalist. Haskins then became the first Ohio State quarterback to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since 1982.

Day said official plans for Saturday's game and other plans for honoring Haskins will be announced at a later time.
