A new program is reportedly in the mix for Tennessee Vols transfer linebacker Elijah Herring.
Herring, who entered the portal during the spring transfer window in April, recently took visits to Colorado and Kansas State.
But according On3's Pete Nakos , the Memphis Tigers are the "school to watch" for Herring.
Virginia Tech has also been mentioned as a program to potentially watch for the former Tennessee linebacker.
With Vols starting linebacker Keenan Pili out for "a couple of weeks" according to Heupel, Elijah Herring is listed behind him on the depth chart.

Herring is a former three-star recruit from Murfreesboro, TN who stepped into a starting role for the Vols last season when linebacker Keenan Pili suffered a season-ending injury in Tennessee's season-opener against the Virginia Cavaliers.
In 13 games last season, Herring totaled 80 tackles, four tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks.
With Pili set to return in 2024, Herring was expected to serve in a backup role for the Vols this fall, which is what led to his transfer decision.
