The 2024 NFL Draft is getting close, making it an excellent time to highlight some of the class' best players with scouting reports. Each report will include strengths, weaknesses and background information.

Here's our report on Kamari Lassiter.

STRENGTHS

Outstanding size-length profile for an outside corner with quick, light feet and sudden twitch to his movement.
Showed excellent mirror match press man traits with his quickness and easy ability to flip and open his hips.
Played mirror match press man at a high level. Patient with sudden feet and loose hips to turn and run vertically.
At times, used quick one-arm stab in press position to disrupt receiver release and maintain balance early.
Played with outstanding balance and body control in man coverage, always in a position to make a play on the ball.
Consistently showed outstanding plant and drive burst and explosiveness in coverage and as a tackler.
Played with physical toughness and competitiveness which consistently showed up in his willingness to tackle.
2023 – Naturally quick, light feet and easy movement. Loose hips with a smooth transition and direction change.
When playing mirror match press man located the ball well on vertical throws. Got his head around to see it.
Again showed competitiveness and physical toughness to play the run from the outside and tackle with force.

WEAKNESSES

Lighter than ideally desired for an outside corner at the next level. Does he have enough twitch to compensate?
More smooth than sudden in overall movement. Not the kind of twitch you associate with big-time prospects.
Some snaps on the 2022 tape in which he was beaten vertically early in the route and did not show recovery speed.
2023 – Will top-end speed be a concern? There were some snaps in which he was beaten vertically and could not recover.

NFL TRANSITION

Lassiter’s tape in 2022 and 2023 showed a strong outside mirror match corner who played with patience and poise, at times using a one-arm stab to disrupt the receiver's release and allow him to maintain his balance and body control and stay in phase through the early part of the route stem.

Lassiter is a lean, wiry corner. He was very comfortable playing press man, mirroring and stabbing receivers off their releases with the easy burst and acceleration to carry vertically and get his head around to locate the ball. Lassiter also showed a good feel for route concepts in zone coverage, instinctively understanding how to minimize the conflict that two- and three-man combinations placed him in.

Lassiter, while not necessarily sudden and twitchy, showed plant and burst quickness and burst when aligned in off coverage and overall showed the kind of loose hips and easy transitions and change of direction demanded to play outside corner at the next level.

Lassiter has experience playing in the slot, and it would not be surprising if some NFL coaches and teams see him transitioning more effectively inside, but I believe he has the length and athletic traits to play outside and be a quality corner at the next level.

OTHER NOTES

Lassiter came out of Alabama as a four-star recruit and became a starter at Georgia in his sophomore season of 2022.

In 2022, Lassiter played both right and left corner with extensive experience lining up to the field and the boundary. The same was the case in 2023. In 2023, Lassiter played significant snaps in the slot depending on the opponent (Missouri, where he matched up man-to-man at times with Luther Burden).

He was at times deployed as a blitzer when he was aligned at boundary corner. Lassiter had a strong game in man coverage versus Alabama in the SEC Championship, especially playing press man.
