Georgia QB JT Daniels on track to play vs. Arkansas despite lat issue

The second-ranked Georgia Bulldogs are dealing with a bit of an injury concern ahead of Saturday's anticipated showdown with the No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks.

Georgia starting quarterback JT Daniels missed the team's home opener against the UAB Blazers because of an oblique injury, and Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart told reporters Wednesday his QB1 now has a lat problem but is on track to start against Arkansas.

"His oblique is fine; he's been having a little bit of a lat issue," Smart explained, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN. "It bothered him some last week, and it bothered him some this week. But he's done a good job, he's sharp, watches all his tape, gets his reps and he does a good job, so we're hoping he can stay that way."

Stetson Bennett IV replaced Daniels against UAB on Sept. 11 and completed 10-for-12 passes for 288 yards and five touchdowns in the 56-7 blowout victory. Daniels, meanwhile, has completed 54-of-71 throws for 567 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions thus far this season. 

Redshirt freshman Carson Beck is also on the depth chart at the position. 

According to Schlabach, Daniels is eighth overall in the FBS with an 87.6 total QBR.
