A former Wisconsin football defensive lineman has found a new home in the transfer portal.
Redshirt sophomore DL Gabe Kirschke took to social media to announce he would be returning to his home state to play for the Colorado State Rams over other offers from UAB and Utah State.
“Committed and coming home!” Kirschke wrote. “Thankful for this opportunity and next step in the journey.”

The Colorado native will have three years of eligibility remaining at CSU.
Kirschke entered the portal a little less than two weeks ago after two seasons with the Badgers. He initially joined UW as a walk-on in the 2022 recruiting class, choosing Wisconsin over scholarship offers from New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, and Northern Colorado. He also held PWO offers from the University of Colorado, Wyoming, and Colorado State.
The former Badger played in one game in his freshman year, making an appearance against Iowa and logging one tackle.
After one appearance in 2022, Kirschke did not see the field last season.
Kirschke will have a fresh start as he searches for more playing time than he saw with the Badgers. He’ll look to help CSR bounce back after a 5-7 season that landed them ninth in the Mountain West in 2023.
