BJ Ojulari Visiting Handful of NFL Teams, Ready for Professional Journey
USA TODAY Sports

Former LSU EDGE BJ Ojulari has seen his game explode over the last few years. The competitive nature he possesses paired with incredible work ethic has blossomed the Georgia native into a highly sought-after 2023 NFL Draft pick.

But it didn’t happen overnight. It took time. The tenacity, effort and drive of his came as a result of his brother, Azeez, who was also a big-time recruit during his process. As a result of witnessing his brother’s success firsthand, Ojulari got a better grasp of what he needed to do to be great.

Azeez, who currently plays for the New York Giants, pushed Ojulari to be a better player and man, to which Ojulari thanks his brother everyday.

There’s a chance the two could play in the same division at the next level. Ojulari is preparing for a few visits ahead of the draft.

The Visits

Ojulari sat down with the New York Jets on Tuesday for a Top 30 visit. Along with the Jets, the former Tiger standout will visit with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and the Houston Texans after that, according to Ian Rappoport.

Though the chance is slim Ojulari plays with his brother or in the same division, there is a way it could happen.

The two have a connection off the field that has them shining throughout their football careers. With Azzeez already handling business at the next level, he’s been able to provide details and advice to BJ as he gears up for his professional journey.

Azeez’s Impact

"He has a great impact on me," the Ojulari said. "He's like a mentor to me. He's playing for the Giants right now, but I lean on him a lot. He's been through the same process, he's at the level where I'm trying to get to. Anything that I can ask him, I'm going to ask him."

Advice Ahead of This Moment

"Just be yourself," BJ revealed. "Take as much knowledge as I can from this experience and enjoy the moment I'm in. Going to the next level, he already told me that it's still the game of football after I adjust to the speed."

The Idea of Playing Together

"We've always talked about (playing together)," Ojulari saidl. "When he went to college, he wanted me to come play with him. But I took a different route. This (time), I don't have the power to choose that. So, if I end up with him, I think it would be a blessing as well, to be able to play with my brother again and dominate on opposite sides of the (line)...”

Competitive Nature Between the Two

"We are definitely competitive. Everything we did growing up, we competed. Playing video games we used to butt heads all the time. At the end of the day, I think that made us closer. He's one of my best friends and best mentors now."

As Ojulari prepares for the biggest interviews of his life, his brother will certainly be in his corner mentoring him throughout the process. An LSU legend, Ojulari took Baton Rouge by storm during his time with the Tigers, but now it’s time to show out for the next chapter of his football career.
