Weigel's convenience stores are about as entrenched as a part of the East Tennessee area as the Tennessee River and the Smoky Mountains. The chain has been an ardent supporter of the University of Tennessee and has partnered with several Tennessee athletes to provide them with NIL opportunities in recent years.
They also never miss a chance to take a dig at one of Tennessee's biggest rivals: the Kentucky Wildcats. Weigel's put up a pair of posts on Twitter/X on Thursday night poking fun at the Wildcats, who fell 80-76 to the Oakland Golden Grizzles in their opening tournament game.

Jack Gohlke, who spent five years in division II basketball before transferring to Oakland for his final season, drained an astounding 10 three pointers - one short of tying the tournament record - to down the Wildcats.
Despite having two NBA lottery picks in Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard on their roster as well as a massive size advantage, Kentucky lost for the second time in the last three years in their first game to a 14 seed or worse. They lost to 15 seed St. Peters to open (and close) their 2022 tournament.
Of course, the one and done quip was the icing on the cake. While John Calipari has built his Kentucky teams on one and done players bound for the NBA, it simply hasn't worked out for them, as they've failed to reach the Sweet 16 since 2018-19 and have won only one tournament game since then.
However, Tennessee fans surely don't want that to change at this point, as the Wildcat tears simply taste too good to give up.
