Best of Yardbarker: How to fake it through CBB season

The 2016-17 college basketball season officially tips off across the country this weekend, and we know what some of you are thinking: Already? Yes, already.

For those of you who really have little to no interest until March rolls around, don't worry, we here at Yardbarker have you covered with how to fake it through the college basketball season: "Now, if you have never followed college basketball in your life, there's actually a handy rule that will allow you to take part in these conversations as well. It's called the 'Corn Rule,' and it goes like this: The amount of corn grown in an area is directly proportional to the quality of the college basketball teams located in that area."

If you aren't really into faking and are more prone to reality, you probably were entrenched with Tuesday's presidential election that spilled over into Wednesday.

No matter where you stand on the results, it's important to be informed, and the truth of the matter is this election affected more than just the presidency. It also had ripple effects across the NFL; especially in San Diego: "Measure C, which would have raised hotel occupancy taxes to help pay for a new stadium for the Chargers, failed to garner the necessary two-third majority to pass. It ended up with 57 percent support. At this point, the Chargers plans are unclear."

The change in the White House and change potentially in where the Chargers call home weren't the only things that were shaken up this week. There was also a change in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings: "Finally. Washington Huskies fans can breathe a temporary sigh of relief."

Some more potential change is on the way in baseball as well, including some big names who could be traded this offseason: "It is the perfect storm of scenarios for Chris Sale to finally be seriously made available."

And we can't talk change without talking about the newcomers in the NHL. The youth movement is in full swing with a rookie class that is lighting up the league: "We can’t have a rookie discussion without talking about Patrik Laine, because no NHL newbie has announced his presence with as much pizzazz as the Winnipeg Jet has."

Something that hasn't — and won't be — changed? Carey Price will carry the Canadiens: "There’s no such thing as a general consensus in the hockey community, but if there were, it would be that the Canadiens do not have much to hope for without Carey Price in the lineup."

Oh, and in case you missed it, Harrison Barnes made his return to the Bay Area when his new team the Dallas Mavericks took on his old Golden State Warriors, and at least one Barnes fan was extremely hyped about it:
