With NHL training camp approaching, the news cycle is beginning to crank up with the offseason now in the past. Over the last couple of days, the New Jersey Devils announced PTOs for defenseman Thomas Hickey and forward Zach Senyshyn, who will join the team on Sept.
Boston’s 15th overall pick in 2015, Senyshyn was a member of the Bruins organization up until the trade deadline this past season.
Over the last week, NHL prospects were used in trades in a variety of ways, from nabbing key deadline additions to being sweeteners in taking bad contracts. In some cases, they were filler.
The end of the Senyshyn Era. The Zach Senyshyn Era is over. The Bruins announced this afternoon that they’ve traded Senyshyn and a 2022 fifth-round pick to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Josh Brown and a conditional 2022 seventh-round pick.
The 2021-22 regular season has somehow made the 2015 NHL Entry Draft even worse for the Boston Bruins. First, Jake DeBrusk requested a trade. Then, after a strong start to the season, Jakub Zboril tore his ACL and won’t be returning for the remainder of the campaign.
So it goes. And 2015’s first round just keeps coming back to be a story no matter how many times we try and avoid it...oy vey. Well anyway, since we can no longer avoid it, the Boston Bruins placed Zach Senyshyn on waivers today, according to CapFriendly.
In 14 career games with Boston, Senyshyn has just one goal and three points.
As the month of March comes to an end, the regular-season for both the Boston Bruins and their minor league affiliate, the Providence Bruins, is going to busy in the heart of their 2020-21 schedules.
