Washington adds more OL depth The Washington Commanders made a pair of roster moves before they travel to California tomorrow to prepare for their Christmas Eve game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Washington Commanders will start their third center of the season on Sunday against the Cowboys in four games. Starting center Chase Roullier was injured at the end of Washington’s Week 2 loss to the Detroit Lions, and backup Wes Schweitzer is out Sunday with a concussion.
The news comes after he was held out of practice this week with a concussion, and guarantees that he will miss at least the next four games.
Schweitzer is in the concussion protocol.
Wes Schweitzer appears to be the lead candidate to start at center for Washington in the immediate future, but Martin will be revved up and ultimately an option to plug in the starting lineup.
Martin will look to compete for the starting role vacated for, potentially, the entire season by Chase Roullier.
With an Alvin Kamara suspension in play for 2022, the New Orleans Saints have been looking at veteran running backs.
One of the most dramatic changes that took place with the Las Vegas Raiders was the decision to move on from Rodney Hudson. Replacing the center will be no small feat but how’s the position looking like ahead of camp?
The 2021 NFL Draft is now behind us, and that means teams across the NFL are in the process of piecing together their entire rosters. The Las Vegas Raiders are likely no different before what could be a pivotal fourth season of the second Jon Gruden era.
After trading their center of the past six years, the Raiders appear to have settled on a replacement, as they have signed former Texans snapper Nick Martin.
By releasing Martin, the Texans will save $6.25M in cap space. He was due a $7.25M base salary in 2021 and was signed through the ’22 season.
It’s easy to forget how important a good snap is. The Texans found this out the hard way.
