Former NBA player Jeff Adrien arrested for stealing Mercedes

It sounds like a scene that would only work in the movies or a video game. But there's nothing ficticious about Jeff Adrien stealing a Mercedes and taking it for a six-hour spin.

According to The New York Daily News, the former NBA forward finagled the keys to someone else's car from a hotel valet:

Jeff Adrien, who spent five seasons in the NBA and last year played with the Timberwolves, was outside the West Hollywood hotel where he was staying last week when he spotted a valet parking attendant with a Mercedes, according to TMZ Sports.
The 29-year-old was able to get the keys to the car and rode off before eventually returning the Mercedes to the hotel, the report said.
The owner reportedly found out, noticed there was damage to the vehicle and that it smelled like marijuana, and got the Los Angeles Police Department involved.

If this was GTA V, Adrien might have gotten away with jacking someone's whip for a couple hours. In the real world, however, he was arrested for grand theft auto and taken to jail, TMZ Sports said. He was later released on a hefty $25,000 bail.
