The Angels have agreed to a minor league contract with right-handed reliever Evan Marshall, tweets James Fegan of The Athletic. Marshall himself suggested on Twitter last night that he’d signed with the Halos.
In 2019 and 2020, Evan Marshall was one of the most dependable relievers for the Chicago White Sox. During the 2021 campaign, injury issues arose and Marshall landed on the 10-day injured list on June 29.
White Sox reliever Evan Marshall missed the final few months of the season with a flexor pronator strain in his right arm and had been trying unsuccessfully to rehab the injury without going under the knife.
Due to a Tommy John surgery and then a COVID opt-out, Kopech’s 31 1/3 innings this season marked his first big league action since his debut campaign of 14 1/3 frames in 2018.
The 30-year-old righty tossed 22 2/3 innings with a 2.38 ERA and even better 2.04 FIP — thanks largely to a 30-to-7 K/BB ratio and a terrific 54.6% ground-ball rate.
